I Was Too Fat For My House! How Loretta Took Control Of Her Life

discipline & consistency

For just a minute, I want you to imagine this:

You own a home, where you have lived for many years. You like the home, you probably raised your kids there, perhaps had or still have a wonderful marriage that made it a loving space for you and your loved ones. You take pride in the landscaping you have done over the years, the Easter lilies that come back every spring in the front flower bed. It’s your safe place, your happy place, the place where you just might want to live forever.

And then you are faced with the reality that because of your weight and size, you cannot walk up and down the stairs to the second floor, or to the basement laundry room anymore. Your lifestyle choices and questionable decisions with nutrition and self-care have now forced you to make the decision to SELL YOUR HOME and uproot your family because you cannot physically move around in it the way you should be able to.

Loretta shared her story with the #SwoleFam, and wow.

Imagine contemplating selling your home because you thought that was a better option than changing your habits and losing weight so your home was accessible to you.

But Loretta decided that losing the unhealthy weight was indeed the better option, and the emotion in her post is highlighting that with intensity!

Admitting that although something may be hurtful to hear, but that you still need to hear it, is a powerful tool to have in your weight loss tool belt. We let emotions dictate our actions, and not reasoning and common sense. We place facts and feeling in the wrong order.

FACTS > FEELINGS. Always.

Facts are truth. They are absolute, unwavering and yes, sometimes hard to swallow.

Feelings are just that…a way you feel in that moment. 10 minutes later, you may not feel that same way.

The truth is you cannot base health decisions on how sensitive you are at 2:13pm on a Tuesday. You MUST look at the facts that remain the same every single day and make decisions based on those if you want to see a permanent positive change.

Thankfully, Loretta did just that and now lives happily in the home she loves and is incredibly close to her goal weight. No real estate agent needed!

She is rocking the 7 Pillars of Swolenormous and when I say that, I mean she is rocking the hell out of them. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

It’s ok to feel hurt when you get hit directly in the face with your own less-than-stellar decisions about food and exercise. You feel that hurt because the only person responsible for your health IS YOU and there is no where else to place the blame. And deep down you know that.

But acknowledge the hurt and move right on to the facts. Take action. Change yourself. Change your life. You will thank yourself for it sooner than you think.
